Hungry Baby Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 3, 2026

1. Overview & Commitment

Hungry Baby ("we", "our", or "us") provides a lightweight, shared feeding, pumping, diaper, and infant growth tracker application across web and mobile platforms. We believe feeding and newborn care records are deeply personal and sensitive.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use our application, why we collect it, how it is stored and protected, and how you can exercise full control over your family's data. We do not sell your personal information or monetize feeding history through third-party advertising.

2. Information We Collect

Account & Caregiver Information

When you create an account or sign in, we collect your email address, authentication credentials, and caregiver display name. If you sign in via Google OAuth, we receive your basic account identifier, name, and verified email address solely to authenticate your identity and display your name to other caregivers in your household.

Child Profiles & Household Sharing

You may add child profiles (names or nicknames and optional birthdates used to display child age in the timeline) and invite partner or caregiver email addresses to share your household care timeline.

Feeding, Elimination & Care Logs

When you record care events in Hungry Baby, we store the timestamps, categories, and any selected Quick Notes or freeform notes you choose to provide:

  • Feeding & Nursing: Nursing durations and active side memory, optional weighted nursing transfer measurements (pre-feed and post-feed body weights and calculated milk intake), bottle volumes and milk type (breastmilk or formula), solid food descriptions and amounts, and feeding observations (e.g. latch quality, reflux or spit-up, and unsettled behavior).
  • Pumping & Milk Stash Inventory: Pumping timestamps, volume per side, session duration, and milk stash inventory entries (refrigerated and frozen milk storage locations, deposits, deductions, and remaining volume balances).
  • Diaper Elimination Records: Diaper change timestamps, diaper type (wet, soiled, mixed, or dry), and care observations (e.g. diaper rash, stool consistency, and leaks or blowouts).
  • Infant Weight Tracking: Body weight measurements (recorded in pounds and ounces or kilograms, canonically stored in grams), weigh-in timestamps, and measurement context observations (e.g. pediatrician scale, home scale, pre-feed, or clean diaper).
  • Care Notes: Optional freeform text notes attached to any feeding, pumping, diaper, weight, or milk stash record to help caregivers communicate important context.

Settings, Preferences & Local Storage

We distinguish between household-shared configurations, individual user preferences, and local device caches:

  • Household Settings (Cloud Synced): Shared tracking configurations (including measurement units such as fluid ounces vs. milliliters, pounds/ounces vs. kilograms, enabled feed types, and feature toggles for diaper tracking, baby weight tracking, weighted nursing transfer, and milk stash inventory) are stored in Supabase within household settings so they stay synchronized across all devices and caregivers in your household.
  • User & Device Preferences: Personal preferences such as color theme mode (light/dark) and local feeding reminder schedules are managed at the user account or individual device level.
  • Local Storage & Offline Queuing: To prevent loading delays and provide offline access, devices locally cache settings and recent care records in device storage (AsyncStorage on mobile, localStorage on web). On mobile devices, new entries created while offline are safely queued in local device storage until network connectivity is restored, at which point they automatically synchronize with our secure backend.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Household Synchronization: To display and synchronize real-time feeding, pumping, diaper, weight, and milk stash timelines, as well as shared household settings, across all authenticated devices and caregivers in your household.
  • Timer, Growth & Routine Continuity: To preserve active nursing and pumping timers, retain last-used side memory, calculate daily feeding and elimination summaries, weekly trend insights, and infant growth trajectories.
  • Local Reminders & Notifications: To trigger interval reminders or active chronometer notifications directly on your device. Notifications are scheduled and processed locally on your device.
  • Account Security: To verify authorized access to household data and ensure only invited members can view or manage household entries.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your baby's feeding logs to data brokers, advertisers, or third parties.

Information is shared only under the following strictly limited circumstances:

  • Your Household Members: Care records and child profiles are shared exclusively with users you have explicitly invited and who have accepted an invitation to your household.
  • Service Providers & Infrastructure: We use Supabase to provide secure authentication, database hosting, and real-time backend synchronization. These service providers process data on our behalf to provide core application infrastructure.
  • Legal Compliance: We will only disclose information if required to do so by applicable law, regulation, or valid legal process.

5. Data Storage & Security

We use industry-standard security measures to safeguard your information. All communication between your device and our backend is encrypted in transit using Transport Layer Security (HTTPS/TLS) and WebSocket Secure (WSS). Data stored in our database is secured with encryption at rest and protected with Row-Level Security (RLS) policies to prevent unauthorized access.

Data is retained for as long as your account and household remain active, or until you delete individual entries, profiles, household history, or your account.

6. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You have complete control over your care logs and personal data through direct self-service controls in the application:

  • Edit & Delete Entries: You can edit or delete any individual feed, pumping session, diaper entry, weight weigh-in, or milk stash log directly from the live timeline or inventory manager at any time.
  • Manage Child Profiles & Members: Household owners can rename or remove child profiles, transfer household ownership, and manage or revoke member access directly in Household Settings.
  • Clear Household History: Household owners can permanently clear all feeding, pumping, diaper, weight, and milk stash records at any time using the Delete History feature inside Settings.
  • Account & Data Deletion: Any registered user can permanently delete their account at any time using the Delete Account option in Settings (under Danger Zone). Account deletion permanently removes your authentication credentials, personal profile, and user settings. If you are the sole member and owner of a household, your household and all associated care records are permanently deleted. If you are a caregiver member of a shared household, deleting your account removes your account and household membership. Care records you previously contributed may remain as part of the household's shared care history, with your personal account disassociated from those records. You may also contact us at support@hungrybaby.app to request account or data deletion if you cannot access the application.

7. Children's Privacy

Hungry Baby is designed for parents, legal guardians, and adult caregivers to track infant feeding and care. The application is not directed to children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

All child information (such as name and birthdate) is entered voluntarily by adult caregivers solely to facilitate feeding and care log management for the family. Caregivers can modify or delete child profile entries at any time directly in the application settings.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to the app, changes in technology, or legal requirements. When updates occur, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
